WordCamp Philippines 2026 is honored to have the Iloilo City Mayor Raisa M. Treñas-Chu give the Opening Remarks on August 29!
Mayor Treñas is a long-time supporter of the various startup and tech innovation initiatives started by the various communities and organizations in Iloilo City.
For this year alone, her administration has been involved in the following initiatives:
- The “Meet You in Iloilo” campaign by the Iloilo Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) Alliance, which saw the Iloilo City Government enter into a partnership with the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) to push Iloilo City as a premiere destination for premiere tech and digital events like WordCamp Philippines
- A startup-focused summit called the “Iloilo City Micro-, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Summit” that organized government agencies, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to closely collaborate with each other; and
- The establishment of a startup center in Festive Walk Mall, located five-to-seven minutes from the Iloilo Convention Center (ICON), with help from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) designed to give entrepreneurs an actual workspace for innovation, collaboration, and business development
We are grateful for Mayor Treñas’s acknowledgement and support of our community-led event. See you on Aug. 28-29, 2026!
